CHARACTERS:

Capt. Burroughs: A British WWI Captain in charge of a small group of soldiers in a Foxhole in France. English Accent, Mid 40s, Early 50, Male

LINE #1: “Don’t be flippant Addison. I have important orders. I’ve just received word from headquarters, they want us to advance on the German line…tonight.”

LINE #2: “I didn’t ask, that’s not a soldier’s duty. A soldier’s duty is to act. We need to get the men prepared, the push will be just before midnight. I want everyone ready Addison, you understand?”

Lt. Daniel Burlingame: Lieutenant under Capt. Burroughs, a loyal, inquisitive soldier.English Accent, Late 20s, Mid 30s, Male

LINE #1: “My God. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s not much bigger than that box of yours would be lying down, but it’s almost translucent silver. And smooth.

LINE #2: “Look, I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait until nightfall. Sun’s coming up and it’s too dangerous to try and cross no-man’s-land by day, you’d be sitting ducks for German machine gun snipers.

LINE #3: “We couldn’t quite break through the German lines. We lost about a third of the men, including the captain, before we were ordered to pull back to the trenches. We took a good lot of the Germans with us, but in the end, it was a failure.

Lt. Addison: Another Lieutenant under Capt. Burroughs, a young, arrogant soldier, but loyal to his job.

LINE #1: “Pleased to meet you Doctor,(beat, enchanted) Miss Whitrose (pause) Oh, ah, sorry, I don’t mean to stare, we don’t see many women in the trenches. So…you two are spies then? This doesn’t have anything to do with the blue box does it?

LINE #2: “Burlingame? You made it back in one piece I see…and you’ve brought company?”

Captain Martin: Captain of the spaceship parked in Non-space. He is inherently distrustful of the Doctor and Daniel, until he sees his “orders”. ANY ACCENT. MALE OR FEMALE. Late 30s, mid 40s.

LINE #1: “I would love to Doctor, unfortunately…I can’t. It’s on a strict need to know basis, and you simply don’t need to know.”

LINE #2: “The pod? This soon? Something must have gone wrong, the seeding should have taken at least another few hours. Ensign Singh, are you able to get radio contact with the pilot?”

Ensign Piker: A young member of the spaceship’s crew. ANY ACCENT. MALE OR FEMALE. Mid 20s.

LINE #1: “Captain, we’re picking up a signal from the pod. It’s returning, on emergency auto-pilot.”

Midshipman Hamner: A distrustful young Midshipmen on the spaceship, he feels that the Captain is wrong in trusting the Doctor, and takes it upon himself to follow the Doctor around. He is willing to disobey orders if he feels he knows better than the captain. ANY ACCENT. MALE OR FEMALE. Teenage to Early 20s.

LINE #1: “I don’t like the look of this Doctor fellow. I will be right outside the door, if you need me.”

LINE #2: “Yes, well, you may have won the Captain’s trust, but not mine. I’m still keeping my eye on you, one step out of line and I’ll be right there, understand?”

Professor Reginald Lethbridge-Stewart: A distant relative of the Brigadier, he is working with UNIT on the Ouroboros Project. He is smart, distracted, but strong willed. He immediately trusts the Doctor. MALE, English Accent, Mid 50s.

LINE #1: “…all the capsules are in place. England, France, a number in China, Japan, the United States, and, of course, uh, Spain.(Chuckles, then a beat) As soon as the last ones are in place the army will, uh, will start the detonation.”

LINE #2: “UNIT is very reluctant to work with outsiders, but I have a expertise in the area of viral mutative engineering, as well as a long family history with UNIT. But I am not surprised to find they sent someone to look after me. I don’t believe I got your, uh, your names.”
