As many of you know, the world of Star Trek has spent the last few months in upheaval, specifically in the area of can fiction. This turmoil has culminated in the recent release of “fan film guidelines,” ten conditions with which Paramount and CBS, the undisputed owners of the Star Trek property, expect the producers of fan content to abide.
As these guidelines have been reviewed and discussed, one clear pattern is emerging. The people who have been producing fan fiction out of a love for the show, the characters, and the themes of Star Trek are closing down current production. They are not going away, yet, but they are moving to the sidelines hoping that when everything has been said and done, they can return and pick up where they left off.
With great reluctance, we at Giant Gnome feel that our production of Outpost must join them.
For the last seven years, we have enjoyed producing our amateur audio drama. We truly appreciate the consideration CBS and Paramount have afforded fan productions to this point, allowing us to play in their sandbox. One of the greatest joys we have experienced came from you – our fans! Your ongoing support, input, encouragement and feedback have buoyed us along these past seven years…and perhaps more yet to come. But for now, though, we can only sit back and hope that further guidance and direction will be forthcoming which will allow us to pick up the story again. Thank you for joining us on this incredible journey.
Best regards,
Tony Raymond, Dan McIntosh & Nick Armstrong
